A U.S. Chamber of Commerce-led business coalition has backed Oracle’s bid to defang the U.S. Department of Labor unit that sues federal contractors for job bias, accusing it of extorting businesses to settle nine-figure suits it lacks the power to bring.

The coalition filed an amicus brief Friday supporting Oracle’s Washington, D.C., federal suit seeking to scrap the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ internal enforcement apparatus, where the tech giant is fighting claims it underpaid women and black and Asian workers by $400 million. A group of red state attorneys general and the New Civil Liberties Alliance also filed briefs Friday backing Oracle.
