Jared McClain is a Litigation Counsel at NCLA. Jared has worked on a wide range of cases in which litigants’ civil liberties were at issue. As an attorney at Washington Legal Foundation, Jared co-authored appellate briefs and comments to federal agencies advocating against unlawful government actions and unconstitutional regulations. Jared also has robust experience working in the federal and state judiciaries. Prior to joining NCLA, Jared served as Senior Law Clerk to the Hon. Andrea M. Leahy on the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. And he previously completed judicial internships with the Hon. Sally Adkins, Court of Appeals of Maryland; the Hon. Anthony Trenga, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia; and the Hon. R. Terrence Ney, Fairfax Circuit Court (19th Judicial Circuit) in Virginia.
After obtaining his bachelor’s degree at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Jared earned his law degree, with honors, from George Mason University School of Law. During law school, he was a member of the George Mason Law Review and the George Mason Supreme Court Clinic.
His work has been published in the University of Baltimore Law Review and the Journal of Southern Legal History.
