What were your duties as an NCLA intern? I drafted legal memoranda and conducted research for cert. petitions and amicus briefs.

What did you most enjoy about your internship? I enjoyed listening to the attorneys discuss legal strategies during litigation meetings and debating legal theories with my fellow clerks following SCOTUS decision days.

What interesting thing(s) did you learn about administrative law? I learned that there are many more forms of judicial deference to administrative agencies than just Chevron deference.

How might you use what you’ve learned later in your professional career? My improved research skills will enable me to address complex constitutional and legal issues with greater depth and clarity.

Any advice for other students who want to intern at NCLA in the future? Be diligent with every task you are assigned, regardless of how important or interesting you think it may be, and have the courage both to interrogate and defend your beliefs about the law.
