Legislators challenge campaign finance rules

“SANTA FE – Four Republican state lawmakers are asking the state Supreme Court to block the enforcement of 2017 campaign finance rules that require more disclosure of political spending by independent groups.

In a petition filed Thursday, the legislators accused Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver of overstepping her authority last year when she imposed the new disclosure requirements, after a series of public hearings.”
