What were your duties as an NCLA intern?

I mostly researched legal questions and wrote memos to help with briefs.

What did you most enjoy about your internship?

The people and the mission. Folks at NCLA truly care about the work they do, and it’s a great environment to learn in as a law student.

What interesting thing(s) did you learn about Administrative Law?

I learned a lot about Administrative Law (I hadn’t taken the class in school, so most of it was new to me). I learned about the Appointments Clause and removal power, nondelegation doctrine, and federal and state agency rulemaking limitations.

How might you use what you’ve learned later in your professional career?

I hope I work at a place where my administrative law knowledge comes in handy. But regardless of where I work, the research, writing, and grammar skills I learned will be useful.

Any advice for other students who want to intern at NCLA in the future?

NCLA is a great place to learn practical skills and to put into use constitutional legal concepts that may otherwise seem only academic and abstract. Your work will help make a difference, and it will be alongside wonderful people.
